Vazhaipoo Poriyal
Ingredients
- Banana Flower – 1
- Urad dal – 1 tsp
- Mustard Seeds – 1 tsp
- Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp
- Red onion – 1
- Green chillies – 2
- Ginger – 1/4
- Garlic cloves – 3
- Coriander seed powder – 1 tsp
- Asafoetida – A pinch
- Curry leaves – Few
- Coriander leaves – Few
- Coconut – 1/2
- Oil – Required
- Salt – Required

How to Prepare
Total Preparation time 25-30 minutes
- Soak the banana flower in buttermilk for 10 minutes and chop it then add salt and soak it in water and keep aside
- Chop onions, grate coconut, chop coriander leaves, chop ginger, chop garlic nicely, chop green chillies and keep aside
- Heat the pan with oil, then add mustard seeds
- Once it crackles, add urad dal, cumin seeds, asafoetida and fry for 30 seconds
- Then add chopped onions, green chilies and curry leaves and saute it well
- After that add turmeric powder, ginger, garlic and fry it till raw smell goes off
- Then add chopped banana flower and required salt and mix it well
- Add 100ml water, mix well, close the lid and cook them for 20 minutes till water drained
- Open the lid, add 1 tsp oil, fry well for 5 minutes in low flame
- Then add grated coconut stir them well
- Then turn off the flame and finally garnish with coriander leaves over the poriyal
- Now the Vaazhaipoo Poriyal is ready to serve.
