Spicy Kolakattai – கார கொழுக்கட்டை
Ingredients
- Rice – 250g
- Urad dal – 2 tbsp
- Chana dl – 1 tbsp
- Asafoetida – A pinch
- Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
- Red chillies – 3
- Kashmiri red chillies – 2
- Peppercorns – 5
- Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
- Fresh Coconut – 1/2
- curry leaves – Few
- Salt – Required
- Oil – Required

How to Prepare
Total Preparation Time: 20-30 minutes
- Dry roast rice, make it cool and grind them like a powder, grate coconut like a powder and keep them aside
- Add 2 tsp oil, required salt then add slowly, add the boiled water in rice flour, make a smooth dough then marinate for 40 minutes
- Take the dough and make tiny sized small balls of quantity 1/4 lemon
- Take a idli steamer vessel, you can use any steamer, add water and boils it for 10 minutes
- Then place vessel and white cloth, then place the prepared kolukkattai, and close the steamer vessel
- Allow them cook in steam for 10 minutes, then transfer them in a plate
- Heat a pan, add cumin seeds, followed by chana dal, urad dal except 1 tsp for seasoning
- Once dals become golden, add both red chillies, peppercorns, curry leaves, coconut, salt
- Fry for a minute then turn off the flame and make them cool
- Grind this mixture finely like a powder and keep aside
- Take a pan, heat with 2 tsp oil then add mustard and once it crackle add urad dal
- Fry them for 1 minutes then add cooked kolukattai balls and prepared spicy powder and toss it well
- Now the sparkling Spicy Kolukattai is ready for serve
