Fish Kulambu – மீன் குழம்பு
Ingredients
- Fish (Kulambu Fish) – 500g
- Small Onion – 15
- tomatoes – 4
- Red Chilli powder – 1 tbsp
- Red chilli – 1
- Fennel seeds – 1 tsp
- Green chilli – 3
- Garlic cloves – 8
- Lemon – 1
- Coconut – 1
- Tamarind – 1 lemon size
- Asafoetida – A pinch
- fenugreek seeds – 1 tsp
- Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
- Peppercorns – 1 tsp
- Coriander seeds – 2 tbsp
- Turmeric powder – Required
- Curry leaves – Required
- Coriander leaves – Required
- Gingelly oil – Required
- Salt – Required
- Rock salt – Required

How to Prepare
Total Preparation time: 10-20 minutes
- Add 100ml water and dissolve the tamarind ball using your hand, filter it, save the syrup and keep aside
- Clean the fish with rock salt 2 times, clean the fish with turmeric powder 2 times, wash it without salt and turmeric for 1 time
- Add some turmeric and marinate it for 30 minutes and keep aside
- Take a pan, dry fry coriander seeds, peppercorns, cumin seeds for 5 minutes, grind them well and save it in a bowl
- Cut 10 onions in two pieces, chop 5 onions slit green chillies, chop garlic and grind them like a paste, chop tomatoes and keep aside
- Grind coconut with water and extract think milk from it and keep aside
- Take a pan, add 3 tsp oil, once oil heats up, add fennel seeds followed by red chilli, curry leaves and asafoetida
- And fry for 2 minutes then cutted onions and saute it till onion become translucent
- Add green chillies, garlic paste and fry it for 3 minute
- Add 2 tomatoes, some salt and saute it, tomatoes become mushy
- Add prepared masala powder, red chilli powder and saute it for 5 minutes
- Turn off the flame and cool it down after that grind them like a paste and keep aside
- Take a pan, heat with oil and add mustard seeds, curry leaves
- Once mustard crackle, add onions and saute it till transculent
- Then masala paste and mix it well then add chopped tomatoes
- Saute it then add tamarind syrup in it and 500ml water mix well
- Finally add the marinated fish pieces and stir it gently
- Close the lid and allow them to cook for 10 minutes until oil separates
- Finally turn off the flame and garnish with coriander leaves
- Now the delicious Fish Kulambu is ready for serve
